Is your school eligible to provide free meals under the Community Eligibility Provision?

The USDA's Community Eligibility Provision allows schools serving low-income neighborhoods / populations to offer school meals for free to all students without collecting applications verifying household income. Since the program was introduced in 2015, the number of eligible schools participating has continued to increase but there are still thousands of eligible schools still missing out.

Why participate?

  1. It reduces the administrative burden for schools! There's no need to collect applications for free and reduced meals.
  2. It ensures all students receive the heathful meals they need to grow and succeed in the classroom.
  3. It increases participation in, and revenues from, your school meal programs.
  4. It eliminates unpaid school meal accounts/debts.

Learn more about the program from the Food Research and Action Council and this fact sheet. The Food Research and Action Council has a searchable database identifying eligible schools. If your school is eligible, we strongly encourage you to participate.

If you have any questions, please ask your Field Service Manager.

“CKC’s menus are healthy, diverse, fun. Because they are so diligent about keeping their menus to a high standard, I don’t have to worry about our students getting the nutrition they need.”
