F2S Supplier Spotlight: Wescott Orchards

Four decades ago, Doc Wescott started growing apples for fun on his Elgin, Minnesota, hobby orchard and planted the seeds for what is now Wescott Orchards, Wescott Agri Products and Honeybear Brands, a national leader in varietal development. Today, Wescott is run by one of Doc’s 13 children, Fred Wescott, who joined the family business right out of college in the 70s.

Wescott Orchards’ mission is the same as it was in the 70s: to grow, pack and ship the finest apples and do it all with the utmost honesty and integrity.

This full-service developer, grower, packer and distributor provides some of the finest eating apples to CKC Good Food and the students we serve. We’re proud to feature Honeycrisp and Macintosh Apples from Wescott Orchards during Farm-to-School Month as well as other times of year.

“Menu planning, reporting, food safety issues, record keeping – it was really the equivalent of a full-time position. I’d say we save a minimum of 40 hours a week using CKC.”
