More Meals, Same Footprint: Preparing for Growth

Follow these 5 simple tasks to close down your kitchen before the school year ends. Enjoy your summer and come back to a smoother startup in the fall.

New hook and Rational roll-in combi ovens
This summer, CKC Good Food made renovations and additions to our kitchen to increase meal-production capacity for the 2026–27 school year and prepare for continued growth. While the overall footprint of our facility remains the same, these improvements make better use of our existing space. They give our team more equipment and workstations to prepare, hold, and deliver more meals.

During the 2025-26 school year, we prepared and delivered nearly 39,000 meals and snacks across our partners daily. With new partners and higher participation trends, that number is expected to grow this school year, making these investments an important part of strengthening our Minnesota school food service operations, as well as our wedding and corporate catering.

What’s New in Our Kitchen

The summer additions and renovations include:

  • A new tempered kitchen hood to provide additional cooking capacity
  • 4 additional Rational roll-in combi ovens installed under the new hood
  • 12 additional double-door holding ovens – six in the kitchen area and six in a newly finished space within the warehouse with seamless transition from the warehouse into the existing kitchen
  • Cooler to house the food on the roll-in combi oven racks
  • Additional racking to house more inventory
  • Additional workstations on the second floor to have more space for field staff

By reconfiguring and improving existing areas, we’ve been able to increase our production flow and capacity without adding to the building’s overall square footage.

Making Room to Serve More

For CKC Good Food, these improvements are more about the future than the equipment and workspaces themselves. They’re about being ready to serve more students and communities while maintaining the quality and care that go into preparing every meal.

As our food service operation grows, making the most of our existing facility is important for our team to work more efficiently and plan for the opportunities ahead.

Most of all, we’re grateful for the continued trust of our client partners. Every additional meal we’re able to prepare is an opportunity to do what we love: bring people food that is both nutritious and delicious.

We’re excited for the 2026-2027 school year and honored for the opportunity to feed even more bodies, minds and cultures this year.
