The numbers in our annual snapshot highlight not only the scale of our work but the collective reach made possible through our partners.
Serving 146 Communities Across Minnesota
This year, we partnered with a diverse network of schools and care organizations, ranging from schools operating National School Lunch Programs (NSLP) and Seamless Summer Option (SSO) to private schools and sites offering Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP). This breadth of partners served demonstrates the growing need for tailored, high-quality food service support. As nutrition program requirements evolve, schools and care organizations are looking for caterers who can help simplify operations while maintaining a strong focus on student wellness and meal enjoyment.
Each school and care community we serve reflects a shared commitment to providing nutritious, reliable meals that nourish bodies, minds and cultures.
6+ Millions of Meals (and Moments) That Matter
The more than 4 million lunches and over 2 million breakfasts provided this year represent easier mornings for busy families, better focus for students, a welcoming cafeteria experience and a stronger connection to a community that cares.
On an average day, this translates to nearly 39,000 meals prepared and delivered across our partner communities. That level of consistency requires detailed coordination, dedicated staff, trusted vendor relationships and a thorough understanding of nutrition programs and operations.
The numbers also reflect something even deeper: trust. That’s trust in CKC Good Food to provide meals that eaters will enjoy while meeting rigorous nutrition standards and operational expectations.
Support Beyond the Cafeteria
Before a meal ever gets served on a tray, we work behind the scenes to ensure menu ingredients and recipes align with commodity purchases to maximize reimbursements. We understand the intricacies of managing commodities – this year, that’s resulted in returning over $1.5 million in commodities allocations to schools. As food costs and operational pressures continue to rise, we understand that managing a sustainable nutrition program budget is very important for our partners. Looking ahead, we project a roughly 4% increase in future commodity allocations, continuing to help our partners maximize commodity reimbursements.
We are also there every step of the way when USDA Administrative Reviews are scheduled. We provide guidance and confidence by preparing for the review in key areas like food production records, HACCP logs, menu documentation and point of sale procedures. This year, we supported 17 partners through their successful reviews. Since school year 2013-2014, we’ve completed 192 reviews.
The scale represented in this year’s numbers would not be possible without the collaboration and trust of our wonderful partners. Together, we’re helping communities thrive, one tray at a time.
