RSVP for Our Spring Taste Test Event

We encourage you to assemble a group of those you serve, family members and board members to come to our commissary for our spring taste tests and tours!

Student from Twin Cities International participating in spring taste test event
How do you choose what goes on the menu?
Why are certain foods on the menu and others aren’t?
How do you make sure meals are nutritious?
How many carbs, fat, protein, sodium, etc. are in your meals?
What about allergens in your meals?

If you’ve ever wondered about these questions – or been asked them by families, board members, or your school community – we invite you to come see (and taste) for yourself.

This spring, CKC Good Food is opening our commissary doors to schools participating in the National School Lunch Program for our Spring Taste Test Event. Bring a small group from your school to tour our facility, learn more about school nutrition standards, and help us taste-test potential new menu items.

Event Details

  • Group size: 12–24 people
  • Ages: Grade 4 and above
  • Time: 11 am – 12:45 pm
  • Days available: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
  • Dates: April 27 – May 29
  • Location: CKC Good Food Commissary, 2919 West Service Road, Eagan, MN 55121

To allow more schools the opportunity to participate, please limit registrations to one group per school.

What to Expect

Your visit will include:

  • A 20–30 minute tour of our production facility to see how our team prepares thousands of meals each day
  • A brief overview of USDA nutrition guidelines for the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs
  • Sample School Breakfast Program items
  • A discussion about your school’s current menu favorites and least favorites
  • Taste test of new lunch recipes (including entrées, vegetable, fruit, dessert and bottled water – enough for a full lunch)
  • A short survey to gather feedback on school meals and the recipes sampled
  • Time for questions and discussion

Tips for a Great Taste Test

For the best experience, we recommend bringing a mix of voices from your school community who’ve shared ideas related to your food service:

  • Students
  • Family members
  • School staff or administrators
  • Board members

Before your visit, we’ll send educational materials to share with your group. Among your group, ask attendees to:

  • Circle their 3 favorite and 3 least favorite meals on your current menu
  • Come prepared to suggest one entrée they’d like to see added to your menu
